Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then located multiple other smeared cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police say initial examinations show the substance was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; officials are currently not informed of any injuries in connection with the incident," they added.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to unravel the case" and have asked to the residents for details.
An important representative commented the incident rendered him without words and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on online, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
