Much like the recent storm swept through the northwest the night before, City blew the visitors aside at the Etihad. It was a statement 3-0 victory for the City coach's side thanks to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a display that firmly established their championship potential as they strengthened their standing at the league summit.

Successive Losses for United

This scoreline represented back-to-back WSL setbacks for Skinner's side for the first time since May 2024, putting them a significant margin off the table toppers with their trophy ambitions in serious doubt.

The Red Devils' ability to balance league and continental soccer with a limited squad has been a frequently analyzed topic since they qualified for the UCL.
